Harley Davidson Panhead
Harley Davidson is one of the most recognized brand names for motorcycles. The company was named after its founders William Harley and Arthur Davidson who started out with a simple engine for bikes. The company was established in 1907 with years of experience from the founders and even an educational background from William Harley as he has a degree in mechanical engineering. Under their care, the engines and design of Harley Davidson evolved and because of their ability to adapt, they were able to survive the Great Depression and became one of the most recognized brands for motorcycles today.One of the popular engine designs of Harley Davidson is the panhead engine. This type of big engine from Harley Davidson was manufactured from 1948 to 1965 and its power ranges from 1,000ccm to 1,200ccm. The engine was named panhead because of its pan shaped top. The panhead engine features two cylinders and each cylinder has two valves each which create it as a very powerful muscle motorcycle even in today’s standards. Eventually, this type of engine was replaced by shovelhead engine design but it is still one of the most popular types Harley Davidson engines because of its unique shape and powerful configuration.
